講演題目：Multisensory communication of music and space
概要：Work is conducted at McGill's CIRMMT Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and echnology to achieve a greater sense of presence within reconstructed virtual acoustics and with live or reproduced musical performance, focusing especially on the contributions from auditory and vibro-sensory channels. Convincing delivery of music performance to a remote site (via transmission or recording), and a realistic sense of live acoustics generated in a local site, involve careful reconstruction of acoustic, visual, and haptic cues representing musical performance. These cues should be detailed and well articulated (and be free from noise, distortion, and artifacts) but they also need to be well coordinated with each other to create a flawless multisensory continuum.
